• Does your laptop fail to charge up when you have it plugged in?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above you probably have a broken dc power jack inside your laptop. It is a very common thing to have happen to any laptop including Dell, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Gateway, and Sony.

If you sent the computer back to the manufacturer they would recommend a complete motherboard replacement, often costing more than the entire laptop is worth. If you walked into Best Buy Geek Squad and asked if they could replace the power jack they would probably laugh at you.

This is a fairly hard job if you never replaced a jack before. The entire laptop has to come apart, the old jack taken off, the new jack soldered on, and then the laptop has to be put back together. I have successfully performed 49 power jack replacements.

There are some people out there that will suggest relocating the power jack. Please do not try to relocate the power jack outside of the laptop, this could cause a fire or severely damage the laptop, not to mention it looks terrible. The best bet is replacing the entire jack inside the laptop.

If you need your notebook dc power jack replaced you can drop off your computer and have it back in 24 hours. (I may need lead time to order your particular jack, even though I stock almost all of the common ones.)

• Please do not forget to include your ac adapter for the laptop. It is required for testing the laptop.

• Please carefully package your laptop with at least 2-3 inches of bubble wrap, or packing peanuts all around the laptop. Include your ac adapter, but do not put it on top or on the bottom of the laptop when shipping. Please put it on the side. If you have the original packaging that came with your laptop that would be best to use for packaging.
